Do's & Don'ts for travelling with your dog:

Not leaving your dog in the car, taking enough water with you, bringing toys along are super important basics when travelling with your dog.

You can also organize escapades with your best friend and make sure you have a list of things you should take with them.

Don't leave your dog in the car

Don’t leave him in the car alone- Even if you are parked in a shaded area, it is always best to keep dogs out of hot cars because they can become overheated very quickly.

Don't let them drink dirty water

Always carry your own water bottle. Water that may look clean to you can contain bacteria or parasites that could cause your pup to get sick.

There are many products that make it easy to carry clean water and not keep your hands busy. If you are going on a walk with your dog, you can take a leash that includes a water bottle in the handle!

Do take them for walks even when travelling

When travelling with dogs, walking is essential so they don’t become bored and restless in the car during long hours of travel. Some times we believe that just because they are outdoors they do not need an active walk.

Moving around and travelling is some times quite stressful for your dog. Make sure you manage those stress levels and they your fog for a walk when needed.

Don't let them roam free

Travelling with your dog means that you are both discovering new places. Your dog’s senses are heightened, they are excited and more importantly they are surrounded by the unknown. If they get unleashed and start going around they might get lost and scared.

Don’t let your dog get startled and run away! Make sure their recall skills are great so that if they do start to wander off you will be able to recall them quickly.

Make sure you cover the seats of your car

We all love our best friends, but it can be frustrating when finishing the trip. You are tired, your doggo is tired, and having to clean the car can be a horrible end to an awesome trip.

What to do when travelling with your dog?

Outdoor activities are great to spend time with your dog. Make sure you do the above things when outdoors with your dog.

Are you out of ideas when it comes to spending time with your dog outside? Here are outdoor activities to do with your dog.

Outdoor activities with your dog - Dog parks

If you have a local park that welcomes dogs, bring them there! Make sure it is clean and not filled with dangerous plants before taking your pup out for some playtime outside.

Play Fetch with your dog

Playing fetch can be a great exercise for both of you! Check the weather prior, in case your best friend does not like the water.

If you have a small dog, make sure the bigger dogs around know how to play with a smaller friend! Ask their owners and always be around in case things do not go your way.

Go for a hike with your dog or to the beach

If you have outdoor gear, this is an excellent way to bond with your pup! Make sure the trail is dog friendly and that neither of you gets too tired.

Depending on how long it has been since they last got some exercise, make sure it’s not too much at once.

Dog-friendly beaches- Hot day? Is your dog in love with playing in the water? Take advantage of it and go to a dog-friendly beach, where you can both have a good time.

Just make sure the water is clean and that there are no dangerous currents before playing in it! Some beaches do not allow dogs in the high season, but most will be more permissive in autumn and wintertime.
